Dr. Kleinman's national and international leadership roles have included serving as chair and member of steering or advisory panels for multiple committees, e.g.: Board of Trustees, International Child Health Foundation; NIH Program on Dietary Intervention for Prevention of Coronary Vascular Diseases; and FDA Food Advisory Panel. In addition, Dr. Kleinman has been a member of various editorial boards, including Pediatrics and was Senior Associate Editor, Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. He is the current president of the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity. Dr. Kleinman's research focuses on a wide range of pediatric areas, including developmental gastroenterology, food allergy, diseases, and breakfast eating and the impact of hunger on psychosocial and cognitive development.
Dr. Kleinman frequently presents his research to lay and professional audiences during US and international meetings. He has published extensively in numerous peer-reviewed publications, which are recognized as major references for pediatric nutrition practice and public health policy. With membership in 12 professional societies, Dr. Kleinman has served as Chair, American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition, and is the editor of the 1998 and 2003 AAP Pediatric Nutrition Handbook and an Editor of Pediatric Gastrointestinal Disease 2004 and Saunders Manual of Pediatrics.
Dr. Kleinman holds a MD degree from New York Medical.
